
Sri Lanka Navy Arrests 5 Illegal Immigrants and 2 Human Smugglers in Sorthern Seas
Sri Lanka Navy acting on information received has arrested a group of illegal migrants and their smugglers in the northern seas off Jaffna Sunday (03) morning.
According to the Navy Media Unit, naval personnel on board a Fast Attack Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command, during routine patrol, intercepted a suspicious dinghy in the northern seas and arrested 7 persons including 2 women, 2 men and a child.

Having noticed a suspicious boat movement in the sea about 11 nautical miles north of Kankasanthurai, the Navy dispatched the Fast Attack Craft to the location where the suspicious dinghy was spotted.
The naval personnel also held 2 human smugglers engaged in smuggling activities from India to Sri Lanka via sea.
The apprehended persons were taken to the naval base SLNS Uttara in Kankasanthurai and given first aid and other medical needs. The suspects along with the dinghy were handed over to the Kankasanthurai police for onward legal action.
